Is there an age limit for the tours?

Yes, the age limit is 10 years old and children from  10 - 15 are required to ride on a  tandem kayak with an adult.

Do I need to be an experienced kayaker?

No you can be a first timer – your guide will teach you the simple kayaking techniques.

Our kayaks are “sit-on-top” kayaks. They are a lot more stable and easier to sail compared to traditional kayaks

What do I wear?

You will be provided with a  drysuit, shoes, gloves and a life vest. You wear your own clothes underneath. We recommend something comfortable and nothing too thick. If it's cold outside it´s also a good idea to bring a hat.

Can I bring a camera or a phone on the tour ?

Of course you can! We do recommend using a waterproof camera/phone.

How fit do I need to be?

This is a level easy or moderate kayaking tour so most people should be able to do this tour.

What is your cancellation policy?

  • If we have to cancel because of bad weather we will of course refund you in full or try to arrange a new time with you. 
  • You can cancel up to 48 hours before the scheduled departure and receive a full refund.
  • Refunds will only be issued if the tour is canceled by Vestur Adventures or more than 48 hours before the tour. For other issues that could come up within that period that would make it impossible for you to join the tour please check your travel insurance. 
  • We reserve the right to refuse participation to customers we believe are under influence of drugs or alcohol,  since this will put the customers  well-being and safety at risk. No refund will be issued.

What kind of kayaks do you use?

All of our kayaks are “sit on top” kayaks from the quality brand ISLANDER. 

Can the kayak tip over?

Although they are stable this can of course happen. The guide has the necessary equipment and ability to tip them over again. And all participants have a life jacket and  dry-suit  to stay nice  and dry in case of the unlikely event that you fall overboard.

Is the experience safe?

Yes it’s very safe. Our experienced guides will provide you with safety instructions prior to going on to the sea.

I don’t know how to swim, can I still do the tour?

You can since you are wearing a life-jacket. The guides are always close-by if something happens.

Do you kayak in any weather?

No, the weather in Iceland can vary. All adventure trips and outdoor activities are dependent on weather and general conditions. We care about your safety and might need to cancel your trip without prior notice as the weather in Iceland can change rather quickly. However if that is the case that we need to cancel your trip because of weather we will of course try to arrange another time or refund you.  

If canceled, when will I receive a refund?

If we need to cancel the trip because of weather or other issues we will refund the card that you paid with, the refund can take up to one week to go through. Please get in touch  if your refund is not  with you by that time.
